Tonight, Lisbon became the hub of innovation as Canopy hosted its March Demo Night. Entrepreneurs, investors, and curious minds gathered at AstroLabs to celebrate bold ideas and share their expertise. From inspiring fireside chats to dynamic startup demos, the evening was a true reflection of Canopy’s mission: empowering entrepreneurship through community and learning.

Setting the Tone: Transformation Through Change

The night began with a powerful quote: “All that you touch, you change.” This sentiment resonated deeply with attendees, many of whom are navigating their own entrepreneurial journeys. It set the stage for an evening filled with transformation, connection, and discovery.

Fireside Chat: Insights from Industry Leaders

The event kicked off with a fireside chat featuring Nancy Brito from Ground Capital Nancy highlighted the importance of transparency and having a strong team when building startups. The discussion underscored how the pre-seed and seed investment landscape has matured over the years, emphasizing professionalism and readiness as key factors for success.

Dynamic Startup Demos

Canopy’s signature format—five minutes for pitches followed by five minutes of Q&A—kept the audience engaged as three innovative startups took the stage:

• Atach Surfboards: Founder Simao Manuel introduced a modular surfboard designed for urban surfers. The board’s versatility allows users to customize parts for different wave conditions or replace damaged sections easily. While feedback centered on aesthetics and market appeal, Simao's vision to disrupt traditional surfing markets sparked interest among attendees.

• Moment App: Jerome Powell also presented Moment, an emotionally intelligent app that monitors communication patterns and physiological data in real time to help users manage stress and improve interactions. Inspired by his goal to raise emotionally intelligent children, this app promises to lead users toward healthier relationships—a concept that resonated strongly with the audience.

• Apollo App: Rob Kramer demonstrated wearable tech to help patients to monitor their physiotherapy at home, improving recovery rates..

Engagement Through Mentimeter

Throughout the evening, attendees used Mentimeter to ask questions and provide feedback on the demos. This interactive approach ensured that every pitch was met with thoughtful engagement, fostering a collaborative atmosphere where ideas could flourish.  The winner of the peoples choice vote tonight was .....
