Announcing the Investor giving a reverse pitch at Demo Night Lisbon - November 13, 2024

Demo Night is not just about startups, but we also take the opportunity to invite investors to take the stage and do a reverse pitch.

This year we will be joined by the Founder of Core Angels Algarve, a new angel group based in the South of Portugal.  With the UK and USA investor markets feeling the strain, we wanted to shine a light on this new angel group in Portugal who have recently formed, and are starting to do their first investments.  Why would they choose this point to come together and proactively look for ideas to invest in?  Come find out on November, 13.

Resident in Lagos, Portugal, Wouter Heijnen will bring his story, and the story of forming Core Angels Algarve, to the stage.  He will then be available for questions from the audience, and this is the moment every startup Founder loves.  The chance to turn the tables a little, and also to find out how an Investor thinks.

If you've not seen a reverse pitch before, I can tell you that they are normally very friendly things and the Investor rarely gets the hard time that some Founders have experienced when things are the other way round, but there are usually more questions than the demo night slots have time for.  Wouter will be around all evening to carry on the conversation, particularly with any Founders of startups that match the Core Angels Algarve investment criteria.

The goal of a reverse pitch, well it's simple: Empatia / Empathy / Empathie.  When an investor take the time to come and be open like this we find that everyone wins as the empathy between roles in the investment equation grows. 

This experience falls smack bang in alignment with our special quote for demo night "all that you touch you change.  All that you change changes you."  Huge thanks to author Octavia Butler for putting it so well.  We've borrowed from her, as it just sets the scene so well.
